Swarm Team Services
Do you need help with a swarm? Honey bee swarms are colonies of bees that are ‘homeless’. It is a natural process to increase bee population however, as honey bees are not indiginous to Australia. It is best these bees are captured and rehomed as soon as discovered before they inhabit places where they aren’t wanted or difficult to retrieve. Honey bees that are not ‘managed’ do not thrive, and are prone to carrying and transferring disease, and can become ‘feral’. If you see a bee swarm in your neighbourhood call MPBA - for the good of the bees!
MPBA Bee Colony Supply
MPBA prides itself on the quality of Bee packages supplied to members. Bee Colonies are monitored for up to three months prior to supply for Queen disposition, colony health and general progress. Cost to members is $300, and funds go both to our excellent club ‘Baby Sitters’ and to general fund raising for the club. There is a waiting list and new beekeepers must be ‘equipment ready’ for supply.
Swarm Team Code Of Practice
The MPBA Swarm Team (Sub-Committee) have worked hard to build a well organised and highly experienced Swarm Team. Team members are known club mentors and operate both within the club and as contract operators in some cases. Swarm Team members have already agreed to this code as part of their membership, and they reflect both the Vision Statement of the Club and best practice in beekeeping. If you would like to join the MPBA Swarm Team you can read the Swarm Team Code Of Practice - just click this link to open in a new page.
