Beginners Course
Conducted at our Club Apiary in Mornington, this course is for the new beekeeper who needs ‘in the hive’ experience. Conducted by one of the Club’s highly regarded mentors you will need a bee suit to take part. The course includes hive inspections that explain what to look for during an inspection such as learning to recognise the different types of cells, brood health and population, finding the queen, using a smoker, looking for signs of pests and swarming. Duration depends on conditions but is planned for 9am-3pm. This course consolidates what the new beekeeper has already been learning with their own bees or prior to getting bees.

Intermediate Course
MPBA prides itself on creating a community of beekeepers always ready to help each other and share knowledge. These events are a regular appearance in the member portal, over the beekeeping season. Members host other members at their own apiary so they can share and learn with each other. These events can be diverse, depending on the type of hives and processes that the host member uses.
Cost is free to members but spaces are limited so book early. This event is posted as ‘Come See My Apiary’ in the Hello Club member portal.
MPBA ‘Come See My Apiary’
During the season the Club offers regular events at the Club Apiary. Accompany our Club Apiary Manager as he conducts his Inspections on the hives at the Club Apiary. The Club is home to three different hives; a Flowhive, a traditional Langstroth and a Paradise poly hive, providing members the ability to continue to learn the different styles of beekeeping.
Cost is free to members but spaces are limited so book early. This event is posted as ‘MPBA Apiary Inspection’ in the Hello Club member portal. Members can also take part in the Bee Plus APP ongoing updates on the club Apiary hives.
